What is the difference between endo and ecto mycorrhiza?

• Endomycorrhiza
  They penetrate the root cells of the plant and form a symbiosis there.
  They are found in most cultivated, vegetable, fruit and ornamental plants and primarily improve the uptake of phosphorus, water and trace elements.
• Ectomycorrhiza
  They enclose the root externally with a fungal network without penetrating the cells.
  They are typical of many trees such as oak, beech, pine or spruce.
